Brighton quintet Canned Pineapple released their sophomore EP 'Big Break' (March 21st 2025)

Fronted by Irish vocalist Seán Drury alongside Guitarists Oakley Gardiner and Gabe Rice, Bassist Sam Cullen and Drummer Charlie Pringle, Canned Pineapple continue to build on the feverish hype surrounding the band following the release of their new EP, which has gained them widespread acclaim from the likes of So Young, Dork, Clash, BBC Introducing, BBC Radio 6 Music and Radio X (X-Posure).

In the past year, the band also made their way across the pond to play to packed out crowds at New Colossus Festival in New York City, to the Netherlands for Down The Rabbit Hole and Left of the Dial, Belgium for Fifty Lab Festival, and The Great Escape in Brighton. They have also made numerous appearances as guests in the BBC Introducing Live Lounge. In 2025, Canned Pineapple set off on a tour of the UK and EU celebrating the release of their highly anticipated EP, including slots on the Main Stage for Truck Festival, YNot, and their French debut at Supersonic in Paris.

Produced by Tom Rees (Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard/The Bug Club/Panic Shack), their latest EP ‘Big Break’ once again captures the charismatic energy which distinguishes Canned Pineapple’s sound, delivering tracks that embody the band’s live sound whilst delivering radiant earworm melodies. Characterising their sound as ‘scuzz-pop’, the quintet set out to capture their raw live-sound whilst still channeling their love for pop classics.

“A delicious piece of guitar pop with a 60s twist. The neat, chopped guitar lines have a slight psychedelic flavour, while the taut, finessed songwriting is all muscle, and no gristle.” - Clash

“The group pushes a sound that is as irreverent as it is intentional. Call it scuzz-pop or power pop with post-punk edges. What matters is that it hits.” - Rolling Stone UK

“A really interesting song… You’ll be hearing that again, no question”

- John Kennedy, Radio X

“An eclectic track with classic rock influences – resulting in an instantly catchy single layered in guitar tones” - So Young

“Scuzzy power-pop with a blend of psychedelia and doo-wop” - Notion

“Blending power-pop with psychedelic and doo-wop elements” - DORK

“Love their sound” - Amy Lamé, BBC Radio 6 Music
