A masterclass in songwriting and performance." -JOHN PLATT, WFUV

"The Patience Of Trees is remarkable. It is much like Blood On The Tracks or Plastic Ono Band in its honesty and raw emotions. Connolly has come up with his masterpiece." - AARON BADGELY, THE SPILL MAGAZINE 9/10

"There are not enough words for love in English; Niall Connolly has found a way around our pretty language’s greatest deficit. With the songs of The Patience of Trees, Connolly has written a collection that explores all the sides of what it means to feel deeply: about a lover, about a child, about old friends, and so often, about life itself. " - MATT RUPPERT, THESE SUBTLE SOUNDS

"Niall Connolly’s The Patience of Trees welcomes us into a world where hope and kindness are the bravest of things" - CASEE MARIE, IMPERFECT FIFTH

"An absolutely beautiful collection of songs... I was gobsmacked by the quality of the songwriting... accomplished composition and arrangements... 4 stars." -Arena, RTÉ Radio 1's Arts Show

"Terrific. Disarming and beautifully crafted folk-pop. Connolly is a witty storyteller and not-to-be-missed songsmith." -Chicago Tribune

"Amongst the most vibrant, poignant, and authentic indie folk artists in New York City."- No Depression

Jon Hughes is an American songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Ireland since 2005. His music sits somewhere between the rootsy intimacy of early Wilco, the off-kilter energy of Pavement, and the deadpan literary weight of Bill Callahan — atmospheric, wry, and resistant to easy categorisation.

The songs move between jangly guitars, Wurlitzer and Rhodes and quieter territory of lap steel, strings and acoustic guitar, held together by lyrics that favour mood and implication over direct narrative. Built quietly across two decades, it is music that rewards repeated listening.

He has shared a stage with Damien Jurado, She Keeps Bees, and Buddy Mondlock.
