We welcome back Basciville, an acclaimed Irish indie-folk/rock duo from Wexford, made up of brothers Cillian and Lorcan Byrne.
Beyond their solo releases, Basciville have also worked as writers, producers and collaborators with notable Irish artists and bands, including Susan O’Neill, The Ocelots, Stephan James Smith and Colm Mac Con Iomaire, and are known for their dynamic live performances across Ireland and Europe.
Basciville’s Love in the Time of the State asks how to make love songs when the world feels broken — and somehow answers with music that is honest, disillusioned and unexpectedly uplifting. Written by brothers Cillian and Lorcan Byrne, the album captures a sense of shock and heart-sickness at the times we’re living in, without selling false comfort or easy answers. Its intimate yet expansive sound blends chiming guitars, soaring vocals and supple rhythms, echoing the spirit of artists like Radiohead, Jeff Buckley and Nirvana Unplugged, while drawing on older traditions of narrative song. The result is a record that faces reality head-on — bittersweet, resonant and impossible to ignore — and marks Basciville as a band fully coming into their own.
