CLMF25: The Love Buzz and Maicín

Coughlan's

Sat 27th Sep, 7:30 pm

The Love Buzz are a five-piece band from Cork, Ireland, known for their energetic live shows and a sound that blends punk, indie, and power pop. Their music is raw, direct, and often delivers a punch while still staying catchy. Hot Press described their sound as “pure off-the-bone punkadelic pleasure, ”and their growing fanbase has been drawn to their honest, no-nonsense approach to songwriting.

Their debut EP Candyflip introduced them as a band willing to challenge genre norms, and their 2021 follow-up, Here Comes the Scum, built on that. The band continued to develop their sound, gaining recognition from publications like DIY Magazine, Clash, and Hot Press.

Over the years, their live shows have taken them across Ireland and beyond, including a support slot with The Darkness in early 2022.

2023 saw the release of Sing! Sing!, the first track from their upcoming EP No Different. That same year, they toured Europe and the UK, played five stages at Glastonbury, and delivered a standout set at Ireland Music Week.

In 2024, the band released No Different in April. They also made waves at Eurosonic in the Netherlands, headlined a Jameson Connects tour across India, and secured a slot at Primavera. The Love Buzz continue to develop their sound and keep a steady pace, focusing on live performances and the next steps in their career.

Hailing from the rebel city of Cork, Ireland, Maicín balances chaos and calm—a collision of cutting cynicism and wide-eyed sincerity. Jagged guitars meet delicate keys, with raw basslines, shimmering synths, and lap steel all woven into a style they call “pastoral post-punk”
