Greene and Shine & Vickers Vimmy

Coughlan's

Sun 26th Apr, 7:30 pm

In recent years, Vickers Vimy have teamed up with RTE Radio 1 stablemates Greenshine for critically acclaimed tours of some of Irelands iconic Folk venues. The Greene & Shine and Vickers Vimy Double act are hitting the road again for a Spring tour to promote their respective new recordings.

GREENE AND SHINE

Noel Shine and Mary Greene have long been an important element of the Cork and national Indie, Folk and Americana scene. From Noel's role as one of the founders of Cork Folk Festival, right through to the couple's work alongside their daughter Ellie as RTE Folk Awards nominated band Greenshine, Noel and Mary have been a constant in the musical firmament. Greene and Shine's music straddles the boundaries of Indie, Americana and Folk, with intertwining harmonies, skillful stringwork and fine songwriting. Between them, Noel and Mary have lent their talents to the recordings of Republic of Loose, Christy Moore, Mick Hanly, Frances Black and John Spillane amongst many others, but it's the quality of their musicianship which has garnered them the most accolades.

Noel is a wonderful multi-instrumentalist whilst Mary's songwriting has propelled them to the No. 1 spot of the RTE Radio 1 playlist on several occasions most notably with her song 'The Girl in the Lavender Dress' not only reaching the top of the chart, but going on to be 2nd most played Irish track in the year of its release, while their debut album 'The Land You Love The Best' was placed in the top 3 Folk albums in The Irish Times. Mary's solo album of original songs 'Sea of Hearts' garnered 8/10 in Hot Press: "A beautiful collection of small epiphanies."

Noel & Mary released 2 advance singles from their latest album. 'I'm Only Writing Sad Songs Now' and 'Chalk It Down' received impressive national and international airplay.

VICKERS VIMY

Hailing from Mayo, on the Wild Atlantic coast of Ireland, Vickers Vimy craft songs that dwell on the borders of Folk and Americana. Rich eclectic sounds anchor lyrical themes of scratched vinyl nights and hazy Sunday mornings. Their last album “Atlas of Hearts” was released in 2018 and made the RTE Radio 1 recommends list. The band followed up with a run of several singles which all garnered national radio attention.

Vickers Vimy have collaborated with Colm Mac Con Iomaire (The Frames & Swell Season) and recordes at the studio of Nick Seymour (Crowded House). Vickers Vimy have been special guests of John Martyn, the Hothouse Flowers, The 4 of Us and Mundy and have shared the RTE Music Train with Christy Moore, Kodaline, Paul Brady and Jack L., including: Coughlans – Cork, The Crane – Galway and The Cobblestone – Dublin and they have played the Doolin Folk Festival and Sligo Live. Their new single ‘Breaking a Fever’ will be released in Spring 2026 to coincide with a nationwide tour.
