Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin
Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin is a Dublin-based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose musical roots are in the Conamara sean-nós singing tradition. A versatile performer, he draws on a variety of vocal techniques like lilting and throat singing, concertina playing that breathes with his singing, and a lifting flute style that all combine to create a rooted, expansive soundscape. His songs have a storytelling quality to them, moving through themes of struggle, loss, resistance and healing, and carried by a powerful and resonant voice that ranges from the intimate to the elemental.
Róis
RÓIS is a composer, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and electronic artist from Fermanagh, whose songs breathe new life into a forgotten Ireland. Blending elements of folk, sean-nós, electronics, and jazz harmony, RÓIS’ genre-bending sound transports listeners to a different realm. With shapeshifting sets, no two performances are ever the same, as audiences accompany RÓIS into her sound world. Expect twists and turns of tempo and genre, and moments of sheer magic, as she conducts the energy of the room. This is a place where the ancient meets the new.
Osnádúr
Stories and themes of the supernatural are woven through Irish traditional song, music and folklore. Different aspects of human life and society (suffering, joy, loss, the unknown, relationship to nature) are often expressed through songs about spirits, fairies and other supernatural creatures. In Osnádúr, Róis' use of electronics, vocals and jazz influences compliment Eoghan’s sean-nós singing style and experimental curiosity as they explore this aspect of the tradition to create a contemporary body of work that reanimates these songs.
