Roesy

Coughlan's

Thu 4th Sep, 7:30 pm

Irish singer-songwriter Roesy returns to touring after nearly a decade away, with a renewed voice and perspective on a catalogue built over eight albums.

From busking on the streets of Ireland and Europe in the early 90s to touring both the Irish and international circuit, moving between the independence of a cottage operation and the machinery of publishing and labels, then back again, those experiences were the full immersion of twenty-something years.

After the release of Wolf Counsel in 2016, he hit pause, and then record again in January 2025, documenting his return through his roesymusic YouTube channel’s vlogs, a work-in-progress of new songs for his next album, written in real time and recorded as raw demos for Bandcamp subscribers with the aim of diluting himself out of the digital greed stream.

His current work examines the fracture lines of our time, how propaganda, manipulation and division distort perception, inflame conflict and strip away at the collective coherence, shaping songs that combine social observation with the intimacy of a single voice and guitar.

2025 marks a long-anticipated return to Ireland, beginning with a stripped-back set at Electric Picnic and followed by a series of intimate performances around the country.

Irish singer-songwriter Roesy returns to original touring after nearly a decade away, bringing a renewed voice and perspective to a body of work long celebrated for its lyrical depth and emotional clarity. Known for his gentle playing style and warm, engaging stage presence, his performances invite quiet connection and deep listening.

Roesy began his journey in 1996 with Warner Chappell and his first publishing deal, marking the start of a songwriting and recording career that would span eight albums, two EPs, and multiple tours across Europe, the US, Australia, and New Zealand.

Now based in Melbourne, he has spent the past several years working in disability care while continuing to write and create. 2025 marks a long-anticipated return to Ireland, beginning with a stripped-back, voice-and-guitar set at Electric Picnic and followed by a series of intimate performances around the country.

Described by The Irish Times as “armed with a crystalline pair of vocal chords,” Roesy’s music continues to explore themes of beauty, resilience, and quiet transformation.
